Coffee is the name of a plant. It contains lots of natural chemical compounds. The main compounds are caffeine. It is a chemical compound which stimulates the central nervous system.

Chinese language Linzhi . Ling means Spirit, Spiritual, Soul, Secrete, Devine, Miseries, and Zhi means plant of longevity, fungus, and mushroom. Japanese language is Reishi.GL – Ganoderma Locidum process a group of triterpense called ganodaric acid which has a molecular structure similar to steroid hormone. It also contain other compounds many of which are tropically found in fungal material including PS, such as beta glucan, caumarin, mannitol and alkaloids.

Linzhi process anti tumor, immunomodulator, immunotherapeutic activities supported by studding on PS, tarpense, other bioactive compounds it has also been to inhibit platelet aggregation, to lower blood pressure ( by inhibition ACE) cholesterol and blood sugar.

Laboratories studies have shown anti neoplastic effects of fungal extracts against some types of cancer including epithelial ovarian cancer. In an animal model GL has been reported prevent cancer metastasis.

The mechanisms by which GL may affect cancer are unknown. And there many target different stage of cancer development, inhibition of angiogenesis (formation of new tumor induced blood vessel, created to supply nutrients to the tumor)  mediated by cytokines, cytotoxicity inhibition migration of the cancer cell and metastasis inducing and enhancing apoptosis to tumor cells. Nevertheless GL extracts are deadly used in commercial pharmaceuticals such as MC-S for suppressing cancer cell proliferation and migration.

Additional studies in details that ganoderic acid has some protective effect against liver injury by virus and other toxic agent in mice  suggesting a protential benefits of this compounds in the treatment liver disease in human. Ganoderma derived sterols inhibit lanosterol 14 alpha dimithylase activity in the biosynthesis of cholesterol. Ganoderma compounds inhibit S alpha reductase activity in the biosynthesis of dihydrotestoterone .

Besides effect on mammalian physiology Ganoderma is reported to have antibacterial and anti viral . Ganoderma is reported to exhibit direct antiviral with the following viruses HSV-1,HSV-2 influenza, virus, vascular stomatitites .Ganoderma mushroom are reported to exihibit direct anti microbial properties with the following organism . Aspergillus niger, Bacilluscereus, Candide albicans,Escherichia coli.

Many species of endophytic Fungi can synthesize paclitexel (mitotic inhibitor) used in cancer chemotherapy. It was discovered in a US National cancer institute. Grisofulvin, Taxoil, Vinblastin share the same anti cancer mechanism, inhibition microtubule activity causing a halt in cell division at mitosis. Epidemiological studies show a correlation between mushroom consumption and reduced risk of cancer.

Anti-cholesterol drug lovastatin and mevastatin were the first statin discovered .Lovastatin was found in Aspergillus terreus and later oyster mushroom. Mevastatin was found in penicillium citrinum. Mevastatin, while lovastatin is used to synthesize simvastatin.
